Abel

In the game now · City Gate level 2

Abel was the second son of Adam and Eve, a shepherd who brought God the best of his flock. Hebrews 11 opens its list of faith with him.

The story

Abel kept sheep while his brother Cain worked the ground. Both brought an offering to the Lord, and Abel brought the best portions of the firstborn lambs of his flock.

Hebrews says it was by faith that Abel’s offering was more acceptable, and that although he is long dead, he still speaks to us by his example.

“Later she gave birth to his brother and named him Abel. When they grew up, Abel became a shepherd, while Cain cultivated the ground.”Genesis 4:2 NLT
“Abel also brought a gift—the best portions of the firstborn lambs from his flock. The Lord accepted Abel and his gift,”Genesis 4:4 NLT
“It was by faith that Abel brought a more acceptable offering to God than Cain did. Abel’s offering gave evidence that he was a righteous man, and God showed his approval of his gifts. Although Abel is long dead, he still speaks to us by his example of faith.”Hebrews 11:4 NLT

In the game

Abel is the first hero to join your house, when your City Gate reaches level 2. He helps the village, not the army: every sheepfold gives more wool for each level of Abel, because the text says he kept the flocks.
