Raven
What it is
The raven is a large black bird with a strong beak and a loud call. It eats almost anything and flies far.
Where it is in the Bible
Noah released a raven, and it flew back and forth until the floodwaters had dried up (Genesis 8:7). The ravens brought the prophet Elijah bread and meat each morning and evening (1 Kings 17:6). Jesus said, “Look at the ravens” (Luke 12:24).
“and released a raven. The bird flew back and forth until the floodwaters on the earth had dried up.”Genesis 8:7 NLT
“The ravens brought him bread and meat each morning and evening, and he drank from the brook.”1 Kings 17:6 NLT
“Look at the ravens. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for God feeds them. And you are far more valuable to him than any birds!”Luke 12:24 NLT
How people used it
Ravens were wild birds and were not kept. People watched them for weather and for the leftovers of a field. The law counted them among birds not to be eaten.
What it meant in the story
The raven shows that God looks after even the wild birds. When Elijah was hiding in the dry land, it was ravens that brought his meal. Jesus used them to teach that his Father cares for people even more.
In the game
Not in the game yet. We keep a place for it in the sky of the village.
