The Moabites descended from Lot and lived east of the Dead Sea. Ruth, the great-grandmother of David, was a Moabite.
The story
In the days of the judges, King Eglon of Moab ruled over Israel for a time.
Ruth the Moabite chose to stay with Naomi: your people will be my people, and your God will be my God.
