The shepherd king
David
Coming in a later age
David was the youngest son of Jesse, a shepherd anointed to be king, who faced Goliath in the name of the Lord.
The story
Samuel anointed David among his brothers, and the Spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon him from that day on.
To the Philistine he said that he came in the name of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.
“So as David stood there among his brothers, Samuel took the flask of olive oil he had brought and anointed David with the oil. And the Spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon David from that day on. Then Samuel returned to Ramah.”1 Samuel 16:13 NLT
“David replied to the Philistine, “You come to me with sword, spear, and javelin, but I come to you in the name of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies—the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.”1 Samuel 17:45 NLT
“How much more do I need to say? It would take too long to recount the stories of the faith of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, David, Samuel, and all the prophets.”Hebrews 11:32 NLT
In the game
David comes in the age of the Kings, one of the last heroes. He fought in the text, so he will join your army, sling in hand.
