The Philistines

The Philistines of Gerar

In the game now

In Genesis the Philistines lived in Gerar, where Abimelech was king. Abraham and Isaac lived among them as herdsmen.

The story

In a time of famine Isaac moved to Gerar. The Philistines filled in the wells that Abraham’s servants had dug, and the shepherds of Gerar argued with Isaac’s herdsmen over the water.

Later in the Bible the Philistines become a strong people with iron weapons, the people of Goliath.

“A severe famine now struck the land, as had happened before in Abraham’s time. So Isaac moved to Gerar, where Abimelech, king of the Philistines, lived.”Genesis 26:1 NLT
“So the Philistines filled up all of Isaac’s wells with dirt. These were the wells that had been dug by the servants of his father, Abraham.”Genesis 26:15 NLT
“But then the shepherds from Gerar came and claimed the spring. “This is our water,” they said, and they argued over it with Isaac’s herdsmen. So Isaac named the well Esek (which means “argument”).”Genesis 26:20 NLT

In the game

Gerar is the first enemy village of the game: shepherds with staffs, a few slingers and no wall. Bring down the chief’s house, take the plunder and read the passage of the wells.
