Israel
Jacob
Coming in a later age
Jacob was Isaac’s son, the father of the twelve tribes. God gave him a new name: Israel.
The story
At Bethel God promised to be with Jacob and protect him wherever he went, and to bring him back to the land.
At the end of his life he blessed Joseph’s sons, leaning on his staff, and Hebrews counts that as faith.
“What’s more, I am with you, and I will protect you wherever you go. One day I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have finished giving you everything I have promised you.””Genesis 28:15 NLT
““Your name will no longer be Jacob,” the man told him. “From now on you will be called Israel, because you have fought with God and with men and have won.””Genesis 32:28 NLT
“It was by faith that Jacob, when he was old and dying, blessed each of Joseph’s sons and bowed in worship as he leaned on his staff.”Hebrews 11:21 NLT
In the game
Jacob comes in a later age. His blessing of the tribes in Genesis 49 is the model for the scene where your house joins one of the twelve tribes.
